Specialty Plastic Films for Converting

UVI or Ultra-Violet Inhibitors & EVA Additives

specialty plastic films for convertingAbsorbers act as a shield to protect the film. Ultra-Violet Inhibitors usually increase polymer life by 3 to 6 months. 12 month packages are also available for increased durability in severe outdoor applications. This is not used in thin gauged films.

Quenchers are stronger than Absorbers. Quenchers are mainly used in green house and agricultural films. This product, or additive, will produce a green tint to the film due to its chemical makeup.

Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer is the most effective of UV inhibitors and increases polymer life up to 5 years in certain applications. It can also be used in thin gauge films.

EVA or Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate

EVA is a copolymer resin that is soft and heat sensitive. It also provides outstanding sealability properties and most often is used in vertical form and fill and low temperature applications. Typically, EVA is blended with Linear Low Density Polyethylene. Ice bags and stretch wrap would be examples of the finished product. EVA resins that include larger than 7% VA are tacky and improve cling properties. EVA is added to LLDPE for improved cold temperature properties, superior puncture and impact strength, better optics, good heat sealability and efficient and improved bubble stability.
